Navy Medical Worker Saves a Life with CPR

Kolin Frank was jogging near the marina in Kaneohe, Oahu, when he collapsed. Bystanders started calling for help, which got the attention of Navy medical worker Rachel Arriola. She checked Frank’s pulse, there was none. He was unresponsive, and she was the only one that knew CPR. For ten minutes, Arriola performed chest compressions on Frank, desperately trying to get blood pumping in his body again. “I would not stop at all,” she said.

Paramedics arrived and Frank was taken to the hospital. He had had a massive heart attack, but it was Arriola’s quick thinking and CPR that kept him alive. He made a full recovery.

Arriola has been a Navy veteran for 16 years, and this is the first time that she has ever had to do CPR. She visited Frank and his family in the hospital, and will never forget that day at the marina.

My husband and I hired Precious Hearts to come teach us CPR in our home and we had a WONDERFUL experience! Grace is a fantastic teacher and we learned so much. She had all the proper equipment for us to get lots of practice, she gave lots of real-world examples, and overall she made the process really fun and positive. Our nanny came for the 2nd half of the class and she reviewed the CPR and choking rescue procedures with her as well. I sleep better at night knowing that we received great training and I would HIGHLY recommend Precious Hearts for anyone considering CPR training. Thank you Precious Hearts Team!
